One of my favorites - the soothing aroma of Lavender. This weeks aroma is Lavender Dreams. Imagine yourself in Lavender fields kissed by the French sun, your senses enveloped by the calming and balancing benefits of Wild Lavender. A calming blend of lavender and chamomile essential oils that creates a fragrance that is soothing, intricate, and relaxing.
Just a few interesting facts about Lavender:
Its scientific name is "lavandula."
Essential oils of lavender are often used in aromatherapy because they produce relaxing effect in most people.
Lavender has antiseptic, antibacterial, analgesic and anti-depressant properties. It is used in treatment of headache, insect bites, burns, acne, muscle and joint ache and insomnia.
Pests such as mice, flies, mosquitoes and moths cannot stand smell of lavender because it's high in camphor, which repels bugs and some pests.
Bees (and butterflies) love lavender, and it’s a good source of honey.
Over 2500 years ago, lavender was used in ancient Egypt during the mummification process.
Back in the Elizabethan times, when baths weren't common practice, lavender was used to perfume clothes and bed linen.
Queen Victoria and Marie Antoinette were fans of lavender.
